MIDNIGHT SURPRISE

so i'm comin home from work at midnight on a wednesday, as you do, and what do i see? a car fully ablaze with orange flames tickling the trees just above. all this is a stone's throw from the house. nice. there is already someone on the scene who've called the fire department and just then, the fire truck rounds the corner and positions itself to put out the blaze. you can just barely see the white car in the upper photo.
by the time i got to the house and found a good vantage point to grab a shot, all the cool flames and the billow of smoke were gone. they work quickly. nobody knows where the car came from or where the owner was. weird.

painting with the firetruck light.
KONG PRODUCTION DIARY SURPRISE
i had no idea when i woke up today that they'd be pointing a video camera in my face for a KONG production diary. [

kinda cool that they're taking the cameras through all aspects of the film making process to share the inner workings with everyone. i have to give a huge thanks to nikki, adam and crew for a unique experience. i also want to thank nikki for allowing me to tag along for a trip to mt ruapehu for a weekend of sliding in the snow. that was very needed.
work is heating up down here as evidenced by the growing number of desks and shrinking personal space in the buildings. just yesterday an e-mail went out that touted the fact that we've breached the 500 person mark. that's a big crew and what's even more scary is the fact that it's continuing to grow daily. that's a lot of people pushing a lot of buttons for the next 10-11 weeks and ya know, i'm still a little concerned about all the work ahead and whether it's gonna get completed. suppose that's where the phrase 'movie magic' came from.
GREAT ADVERTISING

so we've got this chain of pizza stores called
"Hell Pizza" here in New Zealand. the pizza is definitely original and who's going to argue with names like 'brimstone' 'creator' 'cursed' 'wraith' 'gluttony' 'envy' and 'greed'. the pizza itself is OK but pales in comparison to their marketing campaign which is continually brilliant. this is really their billboard, it's NOT a photoshop job. this billboard is near the basin reserve if i'm not mistaken, a location that receives A LOT of vehicle traffic. when you turn off your television and open your eyes from time to time you actually get a glimpse of truth...some of which is right there on that billboard aimed at selling you a pizza. be sure to check out their website as it's equally as original. my favorite part of the whole Hell Pizza thing though is the delivery guys...they wear little beanies. not any ordinary beanies mind you, ones with little devil horns sewn on top. you can buy them at the pizza stores i've been told. it's all good fun and they deserve some credit for a job well done.
don't like their ad campaign, then we'll use another tag line of theirs which can be found on the radio spots "go to hell"
