SPRUNG A LEAK

so we had a chaotic and windy storm complete with thunder and lightening last weekend. i stumbled outside monday morning and looked down to see a piece of 'something' in my bushes just outside the front door. i thought "hmmm, wonder where that blew in from?"...then i picked the piece up. "rather heavy for something that would blow in" i thought. then i looked up at the house. THANKS MOTHER NATURE!
i learned a few things from this.
1. that weird material is called hardy board and it is a compressed concrete-like substance.
2. i don't like hardy board because it is too fragile a material. shatters if you look at it wrong.
3. big ladders cost big dollars.

i bought a replacement piece and some paint. i'm three coats into the thing and i should be replacing that in a couple of days over the weekend. wish me luck.
after that's been resolved, pete and i plan to do some damage to the guest room in the form of tearing down some drywall. let's hope the pictures of the woman installing drywall in the DIY books we purchased can inspire us to accomplish great things.
