ALMOST ON THE ROAD
had some hiccups with the 'contraption' which have had me on somewhat of a hiatus until now. a switch was broken in transport. that was quickly fixed on the first day by my brother. many thanks Glenn!! then, a few days later, i had a cap (capicitor) go sour on me which left the device completely useless. some local tech gurus (Greg, Dylan and Lee) at
Southern Utah Tv and Satellite helped me out by ordering the part in question and then replacing it when it came in. they are my heroes this month. yesterday found me to be one overly elated individual when they called to advise all was working fine. remember, this trip is supposed to be all about capturing footage utilizing that device. finger's crossed all stays working while i venture outward.
in the down time, i've been busy hitting Zion and Bryce shooting static timelapse shots for the past week or so in between random snow storms which caught me off guard and unprepared with sub freezing temps ala 19 degrees or 14 degrees. two days ago upon my return south, i even managed a climb up Angel's Landing in Zion. that is one heck of a climb let me tell ya...unfortunately, the weather turned to crap so it means i'll have to do it again...this time with the additional twenty some odd additional pounds in the pack. JOY!
i think what i'll do today is drive all the way out to the farthest point on my journey (Arches National Park). i'll spend some length out there and then slowly work my way back southwest over the next three weeks. there'll be plenty to share once this is all said and done. i've already burned about 10 DVDs worth of footage. that's the latest from this end. hope all are well.
