HAPPY LEMON DAY

today i was invited over to a friend's house for a BBQ and to test ride the new jacuzzi - can't turn that down! in trying to break my bad habit of showing up to these things empty handed. since buying booze is only reserved for special occasions in my world, i decided i would make a carrot cake instead. i figured its been a while since i made one of those and besides and i still have that lingering memory of a piece i had last week for lunch which just didn't sit right with me.

it dawned on me the other day that in this imperfect world during my massive grocery shopping spree where i hit three different stores, i forgot the main ingredient for this little jewel...the carrots. nice. idiot.

that's ok, i have a backup plan...cheezy cake to the rescue...which i had also planned on making just because i have so much free time to burn through. pete is gonna be pisssssssed and jenn too now that i think about it. i had picked up the requisite ingredients, so i knew i would be safe in one way or another.

back to the imperfect world. mid way through mixing the ingredients, i find myself actually lacking a key component. unbelievably bummed at this ill luck and not wanting to test the idea as to whether the stores are open today, i scramble, looking through the cupboards, the fridge only to find i'm pretty much screwed. it is then that i realize there is one last place to look, a place i've relied on in the past a few times...my little lemon tree in the front yard. upon inspection, i come to find i am gifted with the sole remaining tiny yellow lemon which i carefully pluck from its resting place amongst the center branches. its lookin like cheezy cake after all.
