BURNING SHEEP - '06

after a few years of hearing about burning sheep and even driving past the event at tarakena bay without stopping last year or the year before i felt it was time to check it out. not too unlike the northern hemisphere's much more established Burning Man, i get a sensation that Burning Sheep (now in it's 4th year) may just grow with time. Burning Sheep though is quite a bit different from Burning Man in that there are no artistic, technological creations on display, there are no naked mud people wandering about in carefree fashion...in fact, i heard someone say "Burning Sheep...because we just like to burn s#!@". the only thing Burning Sheep has in common with Burning Man would be the computer geeks who comprise most participants and the burning of a huge (or at least growing annually - this years was taller than me at 6feet) effigy.

i was hoping there might be some pictures posted on flickr of Burning Sheep but it appears there are still a few sacred things which have not been shared entirely with the interweb. for now anyway, it remains a close and personal event for those of us who like to 'burn s#!@". huge thanks go out to the organizers, GG, marty, norm and anyone else who was responsible. i'll be back next year.
