KONG trailer is finally out

this is what i'll be staring at for the next 25 weeks or so. so, what'dya think? the weta staff (myself included) seemed pretty stoked when we saw the trailer on the big screen a few weeks back at monthlies.
if you haven't seen the KONG trailer yet, i'll spare you the grief of searching for it. it can simply be seen by
CLICKING HERE but be warned, if you don't have the latest and greatest version of QuickTime installed, you'll probably not see much...or anything actually.
since i'm goin all out on KONG and sharing, i might as well go all the way and share with you the latest production blog from www.kongisking.net where they visit the digi side of all the chaos. in this short clip you can see some of the upper echelon of weta digital, aka: my superiors and friends, explaining the ginormous task that lay ahead. curious?
HAVE A PEEKa report about all things weta and KONG related wouldn't be complete without mention of the weta workshop tour that we were gracious enough to receive today. that place changes every time i go in there. they now have a weapons wall which has one of every weapon they've ever created for a handful of movies like the last samauri, the lord of the rings trilogy, hell boy and now KONG to name a few. they had one of legolas' bow and arrow sets on one of the doors. since it's only one of four ever made - peter has one, legolas (what's that guy's name?) has one, there's one in storage and that one there on the door - it's estimated worth is something like $450,000.00 ... now, i could have heard that wrong but i'm stickin to it and i'll wait for someone to prove me wrong before i change it. shhh... i touched it. another pretty cool bonus that was being worked on was the minature for KONG's lair. i hope this doesn't ruin the movie for you but the WHOLE thing is all styrofoam, yep...actually, the whole movie is styrofoam...except for the actors, they're real computer graphics.
it also appears that i work in the "perfect creative ecosystem" as stated by Marc Shmuger, Universal Pictures vice-chairman during his current
visit to wellington.not much else to report at this stage aside from the fact that i spent yesterday -tuesday- hanging out with the seals out at red rocks not too far from the house. did some filming and came home with close to 50 shots that i'm capturing and cataloging for
Nature Library. getting some work done on that site before the OT crapstorm hits and steals my free time from under me.
