SHOPPING WITH THE SOPRANOS:

when it happened the first time, i thought nothing of it and went about my day. when it happened a second time, i found it kind of odd so now i'm sharing it.

today whilst shopping at ralphs i was confronted by a couple of men who rolled up along side of me as i pushed the shopping cart up to my car.

"is that your car"? says the man in the passenger seat.

"yep"

the man continues "i do body work and i see you have a little scratch on your rear bumper, i can fix that for ya".

"nah, that's alright, thanks though...it's cool" was my response.

the man sat there waving his hand at me out the window as if he was willing me to change my mind and agree to his parking lot solicitation. i went about my business.

the first time this happened was over in hollywood at a completely different ralphs supermarket. that's what struck me as weird seeing as how i'm at a completely different location. these guys must be targeting the ralphs' markets and looking for car conscious people with excess money to blow on little door dings and scratches. sorry to disappoint, but i just don't care that much about a scratch on my car bumper. i'll get over it.

after watching an episode of 'the sopranos' last night i couldn't help but see these two men as paulie and one of his cohorts. the driver definitely looked like he could have been a member of the NY crew. it got me thinking, maybe this is some kind of new niche that they're targeting since LA is such a 'car culture' place.

i'm curious to see if it happens again if i were to go to a different ralphs. we'll see in two weeks time...
