we (paul, barry and myself) were at it again ... this time up at paraparam beach and with the whole ship. paul was after getting some shots of the ship in flight. that involved fastening the model to some 2x4s which extended out the rear of his car and then driving his car backwards down the beach. oh, the STARES we got...classic.

after a whole day out there and multiple passes (frontwards and backwards) with paul either sitting in the trunk of my car, hanging out the back (child-proof, safety) window or laying right in the sand itself, i think we got some usable footage for his project. we were supposed to shoot some other shots today but the lighting was all wrong so we canned it. he's dead set on getting everything except the spaceman's head being blowing off shot before he splits NZ to go work in san fran. huge task considering everything else he's got on his plate at the moment. he's a busy boy indeed.

we had an elderly gentleman stop by whilst we were shooting (i say elderly because he was easily double our age and seemed a man of wisdom) and inquire as to what we were doing. we told him. his comment was one that hit home and one i appreciated. he said it "was nice for him to see people out actually doing something and taking some initiative as most people just sit there in front of the television being fed passive entertainment". i agreed wholeheartedly and mentioned that i haven't watched 'television programming' in something like 5 years.
