south pole traverse progress

there is a small crew headed for the south pole at the moment. they're going over land which has been done only a handful of times previously; once most notably by sir edmund hillary back in the late 50's about the time of the international geophysical year. i found this map on the local drive here so i thought i'd post it to share with you all. there's speculation as to whether or not if they'll make it. i've also heard that there have been a fair number of injuries on that trip but i'm only going to take that with a grain of salt because you can't believe all the info you hear around town. either way you view it, it's still a very impressive undertaking.
