sir edmund boondoogle

hello hello

first up a huge new photo gallery with pix from my cape evans trip last weekend.

[ant_07 gallery]

was nice to get away from mcmurdo again as i'm sure you can imagine. in a sense, i kind of feel like i've lost a bit of my freedom being down here as our outside traveling is so restricted. i'm sort of ok with that because they're just trying to save me from myself. surely if they didn't have these rules in place i would no longer be among the living...i'm almost sure of it.

after the trip to cape evans and with my body clock messed up or just flat out exhausted, i spent 17 hours in bed sat/sun because i could. i wasn't hungry and didn't feel the urge to get up. sometimes you just gotta do stuff like that.

this weekend though will be a bit different though as we have a very distinguised visitor. sir edmund hillary is making a trip down here to antarctica to commemorate an air new zealand crash that happened many years ago. he'll be swinging by mcmurdo this sunday evening for a talk, of which i'm sure many are interested. i'll be sure to show up extra early for a decent seat.

the daily grind keeps going and i've yet to get out to snowboard. makes it a bit tougher when you have to go out with a partner and i happen to be one of few who works nights. i'll get there though...and soon. my buddy josh went out recently and forgot to check back in with the fire department on his return. that's a major no-no because they'll send out a rescue team to look for you which is what started to happen just before they did actually remember to check back in. doh! i hear a stunt like that could possibly get you kicked off the ice. they take things like that extremely seriously down here.

Amazing set of photos! The Capt. Scott building/hut, whatever was amazing. Tells such a fantastic story. :)
Glad you are enjoying the lights.
