wait wait WEIGHT

i think i just got some really great news regarding the thing i've been most concerned about, the 75 lb weight limit on the baggage i'm allowed to take with me. i am now told that that restriction does not include my carry on bag. WHAT THE?!? where was this info prior to right now...the day before i depart? did i misread something somewhere? my carry on bag weighs 40 lbs alone. if this is in fact true, this whole adventure just got 10 times easier. communication is a good thing.
